The Foundation collaborates with mainly residents in Abia and Imo states to work together to improve social, economic, and environmental conditions. It empowers local communities to act on shared priorities—such as infrastructure, education, and health—through collective action and capacity building. Our community development interests and goals include building community gardens, establishing local skills training centers, promoting renewable energy projects, and creating public spaces like libraries.
Other key social, environmental, and economic initiatives include building clean water facilities, creating community gardens, improving sanitation (toilets), developing recycling programs, launching agricultural cooperatives, supporting microfinance initiatives, providing vocational training, mobile health clinics, food banks or donations, financial literacy workshops, and business management wokshops.
These projects are generally designed to increase local resilience, create jobs, and foster a stronger sense of ownership among community. We encourage volunteers, people in academia, and potential donors to support the cause, participate, and donate to help us fulfill the works we embark on.
In Community Development Herbert Onye Orji Foundation is dedicated to supporting individuals through our grant programs. We welcome applications directly from individuals seeking assistance in various areas. While we primarily issue grants to individuals, we also support regranting programs that have a positive impact on individuals.
Our grant application process is designed to be inclusive and accessible. If you are an individual looking for support, we encourage you to submit your application through our Grants form. The Foundation reviews applications on a rolling basis, and we strive to provide assistance to those in need.
